It is preferable that all hametz (food which one may not eat or possess during the holiday) be given away or destroyed before the holiday begins. Unopened packages of food may be donated to a food pantry. However, if disposing of hametz would result in undue financial hardship, or is for some other reason impossible, it is permissible to transfer ownership of it to a non-Jew for the duration of the holiday. The hametz should then be clearly identified and stored in such a way that it will not accidentally be eaten during Pesah.
If you would like us to sell hametz on your behalf, please complete the form below. Make sure to list all addresses (whether you own or rent) which may contain food, and make sure to include the apartment number if there is one. To be included in the sale, your form must be received by Monday March 26. After you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email. If you do not receive confirmation, your request has not gone through; please email us at email@example.com to ensure that you are included in the sale.
It is customary to make a donation to the synagogue in connection with the sale. If you would like to do so, just click on the button below. You will be directed to a secure page where you can enter your credit card information.
